I was able to photograph an osprey for the first time of ever seeing one here in Northern Alaska. I took a picture of him by the river on one of the runway lights for Fort Wainwright here in Fairbanks Alaska. He is AWSOME and I have never seen one this far inland before they are AWSOME I hope to see more of him!

We have been watching a nest for several years now. I am curious to know if more than one mating pair will live in a nest. This year when they returned for nesting, there were 3 birds instead of 2. I thought they were very territorial? I am curious if anyone has any more info on this.

You are probably aware of this, but there are about 6-10 active nests on the south end of the abandoned Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo.
Most nests are on abandoned light poles, about 75' up. When we sail by, we can presently see chicks in most of the nests.
The adults can be seen most evenings hunting in the mare island channel. I would say that there are about 6-12 pairs in the area, and have seen as many as 6-8 at one time.

I have alrady trie to register but something went erong. I am very interested in Ospreys and at present watch the Lochof Lowes site and are watchng fledghlings getting ready to spread their wings and then we wait till next year

I am very interested in the protection of this great bird. I watch the Centre in Scotland and check in dailay to watch the two chicks from what muust be one of the oldest Ospreys still brooding. the chicks are about to Fledge soon. and we will wait till next year.726
