Message What can I say? If you have seen the ShameTrain L.A. PSAs on the L.A. Metro and buses, you know we are bastards separated at birth albeit joined at the wit. (You can also have a gander at our daily diatribes about the L.A. MTA's gross incompetence and outrageous insincerity at www.TheBusBench.com.) |

Message 2 cities, Osaka and Yokohama, listed on the page of larger transit systems with smaller populations have Earthquakes […] on a regular basis. For other cities located within the Pacific Ring of Fire with reputable subway and/or light rail systems, see Mexico City, Tokyo, and San Francisco. |

Message How many of the cities listed on you maps of larger transit systems with smaller populations have Earthquakes of a 7.0 Magnitude (and up) on a a regular basis? Do you suppose the earthquake factor has any bearing on the usage or design of the subway? I used to live in LA and I can tell you that even if would have been able to take me where I wanted to go, I probably wouldn't have used it for that reason. |

Message I have visited LA (twice) and used the Metro (once) there. I live in London and use the Tube here almost every day. I thought the LA Metro was good - much cleaner than the London version (and we have the same rules about food, drink and stereos, which are all good rules, IMO, even if they aren't obeyed by anyone) Reach and frequency are the major issues, and clearly the needs of the oil companies and car manufacturers have been considered more important than the needs of ordinary people. |

Message I agree - and hope that someday Phoenix also can develop a mass transit that won't resemble LA's... |

Message After exploring the Paris subway a few years ago, I've become steaming mad that Angelinos are being deprived of such a wonderful transit system. I live in Sherman Oaks, and I have no choice but to take my car to work because no Metro Rail runs near me AT ALL, and the bus takes 3 times as long to get me to work as driving. Traffic would have to get REALLY bad to match the inefficiency of LA's bus system. |

Message This site is perfect. I took the MTA to work a total of 3 times... I stopped because I was ticketed $123 for having a cup of coffee on the gold line train platform. |
