Message I have had a great time viewing your pictoral history of the grand strand. I am from cleveland ohio and have been there several times, but back in the hayday of the driving vacation (post WWII-1970's), it seemed like a totally different energy going on than today. The article on atlantic beach really saddened me, revoke the charter already and start rebuilding. If the past is a window to the future, lets hope to keep the revival going, and quit building more and more condos, grocery stores, and parking lots. |

Message I am a native of Myrtle Beach and really miss the pavilion, use to work at the pavilion and did a lot of dancing there. There is a picture of my sister holding a beach ball in front of the pavilion, that is pretty cool. |

Message Thank you for keeping the memory alive. I grew up at the beach and hate the way it has changed. Those were the best times of my life! Worked at the Castaways, ate at that Subway all the time (the man who owned and his family were great and I was so sad when he passed away after his battle with cancer), and spent time at almost every place you have on here. Saw "The Wall" for the first time at Cinema 10 midnight movies with my first love. Please keep this going for all of us locals to retreat to when we are feeling homesick for the good ole days! |

Message I have lived here since 1969. It is very sad to see your memories torn down all in the name of progress but all I see are empty lots where locals and tourists use to gather and have fun.....an spend money. Nothing there now to spend that "ALL MIGHTY DOLLAR" on. |

Message I will miss the old Pavilion and all the good times I had as a child with my father and later with my girlfriends and wife. What a loss of a South Carolina treasure. I am still mourning the loss of the source of my childhood memories. |
